Poetry

Admirer in secrecy

Kevin Connery

by Nazaneen Kaliwal

Ever-changing seasons know not the grace with which you come and go

Spring offers not the sweet scent that bathes your skin

Summer offers not the warmth that resides within your voice

Autumn offers not the colours that paint your cheeks amid chagrin

Winter offers not the charm that clings to words of your choice

Classic art knows not the timeless allure that adorns you

Paintings offer not the vivid colours of your personality

Novels offer not the elating suspense of your presence

Music offers not the pleasing harmony of your words

Poems offer not the implicit depth of your scars

Conventional romance knows not your defiant simplicity

Candle-lit dinners offer not the mystery lingering within your eyes

Goblets of wine offer not the intoxication resting upon your lips

Chocolates offer not the sweet taste resting upon your sighs

Delicate roses offer not the fragility upon your finger tips

As bitter monologues and unheard compliments divide us,

this love knows not the means to present itself.

As ignorance remains your lone shadow,

you know not my adoration for you.
